  • Preferred sample type for Males: First catch urine specimens; or urethral swab
  • Preferred sample type for Females: Endocervical or vaginal swabs
  • Refer to patient instructions for collection procedures

  • Samples collected in GenProbe Aptima are not acceptable.
  • Samples collected in UTM (red or purple top lid) or VTM (Green lid) swab collection tubes are not acceptable.
  • Samples collected in Abbott Multi-collect (orange lid), register "CPC" and send away to Waikato Hospital Laboratory.

STI sample received without a request on form will not be processed, register COMS and use &STI. Sample will be kept for 7 days. Please email plw.testadd@pathlab.co.nz for testing required.
