Collection Information
Preparation
- Aldosterone and Renin are paired tests, must collect at same time
- Prefer fasting & Supine (lying down)
- Ideally collect samples after patients have been out of bed for >2 hours and been seated for 5-15 minutes
- Much reach lab within 5 hours of collection, collect close to courier time if necessary
- EDTA tube must be filled
- Transport at room temperature only, do not chill sample, do not place next to samples that are on ice

- DO NOT refrigerate
- EDTA must be kept at room temperature until separated, ideally snap frozen. Total time from collection to freezing should not exceed 6 hours.
- Separate & freeze within 6 hours of collection
- DO NOT use refrigerated centrifuge
