- Culturing of blood for Bartonella has a very low yield. PCR for Bartonella DNA is the preferred method.
- Preferred specimen is infected tissue collected into a sterile container, do not add formalin
- EDTA, DO NOT share sample, dedicated tube required & DO NOT centrifuge, whole blood required
